A Voyage into Vector

With only my trusty drawing tablet (PC), a few miscellaneous butterfly and floral vector packs (EPS files), and Adobe Illustrator, I set off on a quest of digital design proportions.

I had originally planned to make a paisley, tattoo inspiring, design for a friend of mine, but then got aggravated at my computer design skills and  a few other outside sources, but today was the day I threw some of those insecurities out the window, and took the inspiration I had when I was making breakfast and got to work.

Since this was a computer design project, I only have the finished product to share, so here it is:

For uploading purposes, this is a lower quality JPG, versus the Illustrator original.

Monster and Mommy Project - Issue #2

For the next installment of this project, we have the monster's addition of more paints as well as Mommy's pencil sketch of her work.  I will probably add paints later this week or over the weekend.  We shall see how busy my week turns out to be!

Subtlety in the Layers

Naruto and D. Gray-Man finally took to being dry, so it was "game on" time for me to begin with a second layer.

I had about an hour to kill on Friday, so I decided Naruto needed some sprucing up.  Since I knew I wanted to work on the skin tones and some of the more subtle things before getting into the other elements of this piece, this seemed like the perfect time killer to work with.

Now, I have a few pictures to upload, but you will have to pay careful attention, since this layer will be less noticeable that the initial layer, for obvious reasons (lol).

Here goes (I will try to list some of the changes):

At the start, I wanted to add an extra layer of highlight pigment to the skin.  This continues for a few pictures.

Monster and Mommy Project - Issue #1

Since my daughter (a.k.a. The Monster) has taken to the art world, we decided to do a collaborative project, or what I lovingly refer to as the Monster and Mommy Painting.

During the week, I let her begin "her side" of the canvas, but I may be getting a bit ahead of myself...

First of all, the project is this:

A shared canvas, acrylic paints, a piece of tape, and some pencils.  I took a spare canvas of a decent size and split it in two with the tape; a monster side and a mommy side.  Each of us will produce a piece of our own choosing, then draw and paint on our respective sides.  So, the result of her side thus far is below!

I am going to preface this with, "She rocks!"

Yes, an alien space craft picking up some farm animals with a very disapproving farmer looking at the scene!

More entries to come on this little side project.  This will be framed and proudly displayed in my how when it is complete; just in case you were wondering (lol).

Mixed Martial Arts and Crafts

Since I promised the little one I would paint the one canvas and she would paint the other (From an Acrylic Paint Craft Set I purchased for her for her Birthday), I thought I would start.  To preface, I only used the acrylic paints that came with the set and the four cheap brushes that came with it as well.

I figured that it isn't really an art project, but it does fall under the realm of crafting...AND I was using a brush...So....

I followed the progress with my camera:

Addition of Yellows Before I Took a Break

Yup, this ninja cat is trained in many forms of the mixed martial arts and crafts!  Today, we have our first "Mommy/Monster" painting.  Expect updates for that as well.
